Buy Art with confidence on EBay
EBay is a fun, easy and safe way to purchase art. Many people are slightly
wary of purchasing on eBay. Here are some tips to help you stay safe
1.) Before you bid make sure you know exactly what you are buying. See our
article what to look for on eBay for more
advice on this.
2.) Make sure you know the delivery costs, including insurance so you know
the total price.
3.) Make sure you complete the transaction on
eBay by placing a bid, using
"buy it now" or Best offer. Transactions completed away from eBay are not covered
by eBay's protection programs.
4.) If you are unsure about something ask the
seller a question using the
ask seller a question link found under the sellers profile at the top right
of the listing.
5.) Always pay for your auction using a traceable method such as a cheque or
Paypal. Never pay for your eBay item
using instant cash wire transfer services through Western
Union or MoneyGram.
6.) Check the sellers feedback rating. What is their percentage of
positive
responses, how many transactions have they completed and what comments have
people left. A couple of negatives in a high feedback is not uncommon and does
not mean the seller will 'rip you off'.
7.) Does the seller offer a returns policy, if so who pays the postage
charges and is there a restocking fee?. What will happen if the parcel is
lost/damaged in the post?
8.) Pay with Paypal . Paypal's buyer protection can protect your purchase and
your seller will have no access to bank account/card numbers
9.) Check eBay's
security centre for information.
10.) Always use your common sense when
making a purchase.
